Brief Description
The Child Rights Acts (2003) which is the domesticated version of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child protects the girl-child against forced marriage and places minimum legal age for marriage at 18 years. However, this only applies to marriages within the country's civil legal system. The Child's Rights Bill has been passed into law by 23 out of the 36 states of the Federation.
